For fans of authentic Chinese food at a great price
I went here for the first time today and got food from the buffet. I got salt and pepper fried smelts, glass noodles (like Korean japchae) with ground meat, eggplant stuffed with ground seafood (dim sum style) mapo tofu and a wonton in sauce stuffed with pork. I would describe my portion as medium-sized and it was $6.20.
I was happily surprised to see these items on a buffet in midtown! There are many Chinese buffets in the neighborhood, but mostly it's all american style Chinese food. Everything was good except for the mapo tofu, which was bland and not spicy as it was advertised (still wasn't bad). The fried smelts and glass noodles were really delicious. There were many other non-Americanized dishes there too. Another plus was they have little cups of chili oil behind the register when you check out - just ask for it.
If you want american style Chinese food like General Tso's etc. I would suggest going somewhere else. But if you want some interesting Chinese food, this is a good addition to the neighborhood along with Hing Won (the best) and Xian Foods (more expensive). -

It's a fast food type of restaurant. There are pre made hot dishes, as well as made to order food. The noodles (made to order) is great. It's a fast food place. Cheap, fresh, and don't expect too much

Walked in here after finding Xi'an Famous Foods to be unbearably full (the line basically consisted of people packed like sardines in the ordering area). We were hungry and wanted some Chinese food and this was the closest available.
We ordered two noodle soups and stir-fried corn with nuts. The noodles were of mediocre quality and the beef in one of them was not fresh. The corn with nuts was good but ridiculously expensive, $13.99 for basically frozen vegetables with cashews thrown in. -

I come here for takeout when I feel like Chinese food. The food certainly isn't great but the price is reasonable compared to other places in the area. The ladies who work there are generally nice.

Came here for a quick lunch and trying the noodle soup. It was made-to-order. I didn't have to wait for too long to get my food. As I asked to-go, soup and noodle were packed separately. Overall, I felt it wasn't worth $10. There was very little beef and veggies. Noodle was too soft. I can definitely taste white pepper (with MSG) in the soup.
